Disney On Ice
'Disney On Ice -Worlds of Fantasy' came to Phoenix two weekends ago. I wasn't sure if Abigail would be too young to enjoy it but we had a blast!
The day before a friend 'warned' me that all the little girls dress up in Disney dresses (would never have guessed that, thanks Colette). So Friday afternoon I'm in Toys R Us letting my two year old choose her first Disney dress "insert rolled eyes". I've never been a princess-dress-mum so I was surprised when Abby starts naming off Belle, Snow White, Sweeping Beauty - I didn't know she knew all these (how does Disney do that - market to our toddlers without us even knowing??). Anyway, she wanted Ariel but they didn't have it so she chose Tinkerbell:

And, you've got to give it to Disney. They don't do anything less than 100%, the show was very impressive:
You couldn't wipe the smile off her face, or stop the singing & dancing, the whole day:
As I put her to bed I thought "if this is how happy it makes my girl, even I believe in Pixie Dust. Goodnight TinkerAbby".
Reading with a 2.75yr-old
Me: look at the dinosaur Abby, he's sad, why do you think he's sad?
Abby, with sad face: ah, poor him, he's sad because ... he wants a birthday.

Weather
So it may seem that I have posted a lot on how hard it is to deal with the Phoenix heat in the summer. It was the hottest July on record in 2009 so I was at least a little justified. BUT, I'm here to undo some of the complaining. Because Jake, Abby & I spent New Years Day in the back yard. It was a perfect 72 degrees. Abby tried to master her new car, Jake tended to his plants & I read my book on the patio furniture like a happy cat napping in the sun. We also stole these off the neighbour's tree that hangs over into our yard:
And my parents sent pictures of their New Years Day:
