Ten Year Anniversary

At the end of October, Jake and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary by going to dinner with my parents who were celebrating their fortieth! It was a lovely meal at Binkley's in Cave Creek.

I found a few quotes on marriage that I liked:

One advantage of marriage is that, when you fall out of love with him or he falls out of love with you, it keeps you together until you fall in again. -Judith Viorst

To find someone who will love you for no reason, and to shower that person with reasons, that is the ultimate happiness -Robert Brault

A marriage is not a noun; its a verb. It isn't something you get. Its the way you love your partner everyday." -Barbara De Angelis

Your gift to me is uninsurable. No appraiser can put a value on it… It’s like fruit of the month or a lifetime subscription – a perpetual-motion happiness machine. It starts off fresh and brand new every day, shining up my whole world…" -Ronald Reagan - in a letter to his wife Nancy

‎A happy marriage has in it all the pleasures of friendship, all the enjoyment of sense and reason - and indeed all the sweets of life." -Joseph Addison

and some funny ones ...

My husband and I have never considered divorce... murder sometimes, but never divorce. -Joyce Brothers

For two people in a marriage to live together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle the Vatican has overlooked. -Bill Cosby

Fifty Shades of Grey

Because the whole world is going on and on about this one, I tried it. I read about sixty pages. But I couldn't do it. I can usually stick with a bad book just to see what happens. But this was THAT BAD. I just couldn't go any further.

One Day by David Nicholls

Can I give this book exactly 2.5 out of 5? Because I'm on the fence - I liked the fact that every chapter was July 15th - following the two main characters every July 15th for twenty years. I liked the easy prose, the setting, the comedy. But I disliked the melodramatic, the over-the-top and the predictability. So, 2.5 out of 5, which I suppose means I'm undecided. I will read some reviews on goodreads.com and see what others thought.
